Race Legality & Safety Compliance
Ironman Triathlon and World Triathlon have confirmed that the EZ Gains® Aero Chainring Guard is legal for use in draft-illegal races and complies with governing body safety standards.
Ironman / World Triathlon Rule 5.03(h):
All aspects of the bicycle must be safe for the rider and other competitors. Minimum safety standards include meeting or exceeding those set by recognised safety standards organisations such as CPSC, ISO, or equivalent bodies.
Important Notes
- Carbon weave patterns may vary slightly between products.
- Take care when cleaning the bike or lubricating the chain to avoid affecting the adhesive properties of the 3M tape.
- We recommend purchasing additional chainring guard tape if you are using a Shimano power meter. The guard must be removed for battery recharging. Battery life varies by model, but is typically 200–300 hours. Please check Shimano documentation for precise battery specifications.

Independently Tested Aerodynamic Performance
Aerodynamic testing was conducted by independent engineers at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub.
EZ Gains® has identified and addressed an often-overlooked source of aerodynamic drag: the chainring.
Similar to wheel aerodynamics, airflow can become trapped within the open structure of the chainring, increasing drag and reducing efficiency. To counter this, EZ Gains® developed a simple, cost-effective carbon fibre chainring guard designed to integrate seamlessly with most drivetrain setups.
Installation is straightforward: remove the pedal, apply the supplied double-sided tape, fit the guard, and you’re ready to ride.
