Caroline Livesey x EZ Gains®
Elite endurance cyclist and current Scottish Gravel Champion, Caroline Livesey, is preparing to take on one of the UK’s most demanding endurance challenges — an attempt to break the North Coast 500 record of 36.5 hours.
At this level, performance comes down to marginal gains, precision setup, and absolute trust in equipment.

To compete at world record level, Caroline needed more than just a fast bike, she needed a fully optimised aerodynamic system built for real-world endurance.
After extensive wind tunnel testing, EZ Gains® systems delivered measurable aerodynamic savings, helping reduce drag and improve efficiency over ultra-endurance distances.
This was a critical factor in her race setup.

Hydro-Gains
The rear bottle holder helps Caroline race more efficiently by carrying hydration in the rider’s “aero shadow”, reducing drag while keeping bottles secure and easy to access.
Its adjustable positioning allows bottles to sit close behind the saddle for a more aerodynamic setup, helping her stay fuelled without compromising speed or riding position over long-distance efforts.
BTA System
The TriRig EZ BTA system helps her race faster by improving the bike’s aerodynamics while keeping hydration easy to access in an aero position.
Wind tunnel testing showed savings of between 2–8 watts for already highly optimised pro athletes, with even bigger potential gains for amateur riders.
It also allows bottles to be positioned precisely between the arms to reduce drag and maintain a more efficient riding position throughout the race.
Disc Wheel
The EZ Disc SL helps Caroline race faster by turning a standard rear wheel into an aerodynamic disc wheel setup, reducing drag and improving efficiency at higher speeds.
Wind tunnel testing showed savings of around 10–15 watts, potentially saving 2–3 minutes over a 90km race, while remaining lighter than the standard EZ Disc and more stable in crosswinds than many expect.
It delivers many of the performance benefits of a high-end disc wheel without the same cost.
Silverstone Wind Tunnel Testing
Caroline trusted EZ Gains® to help fine-tune her setup for this record attempt, and we worked closely with her to ensure her equipment delivered at the highest level.
In endurance racing, every watt matters, and when you’re chasing a world record, aerodynamic efficiency isn’t optional, it’s essential.
EZ Gains® products are designed, tested, and proven under real-world conditions, giving athletes like Caroline the confidence to push boundaries.
Ahead of her world record attempt on Scotland’s North Coast 500, we joined forces at Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub wind tunnel to make her setup as aerodynamic as physically possible.
Working closely together, we tested rider positioning, hydration placement and equipment choices to uncover every marginal gain possible for the challenge ahead.
From refining comfort in the aero position to reducing drag wherever we could, the session was all focused on helping Caroline ride faster and more efficiently over the demanding NC500 route.
More Than a Record Attempt
This challenge is incredibly important to Caroline on a personal level. It represents far more than a world record attempt, it’s a chance to push herself to her absolute limits in a way that aligns with her values of purpose, resilience and giving back.
By taking on something as demanding as the North Coast 500, she is able to combine her passion for endurance cycling with a meaningful cause, using the effort and suffering involved to help raise funds for education projects in Nepal and create real opportunities for children who need them most.
