How does movement in position change your overall time?

Ā

We all like to think we know our aerodynamic drag (CdA), but how much does it really change during a race? Your wind tunnel or field test might give you a baseline, but over the course of a 70.3 triathlon, how realistic is that number?

Consider the countless adjustments you makeā€”shifting position, dodging potholes, tackling roundabouts, or sitting up to grab a drink. Every movement impacts your aerodynamics more than you might expect.

On February 17th at Silverstone Wind Tunnel, we're putting this to the test. Through advanced simulations and real-world data analysis, we'll uncover the true impact of these micro-adjustments on your CdA.

EZ Gains will be testing this effect at Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub on the 17th February 2025.

Our findings will be integrated into the EZ Aero Calculator (launching soon!), helping you achieve more accurate race predictions.

For Ironman and 70.3 athletes, understanding these dynamic CdA changes is crucial for race-day success. Our research will examine various real-world scenarios, including nutrition station approaches, technical course sections, and power output variations. This comprehensive analysis will help triathletes and time trial specialists better understand how their bike position, equipment choices, and race-day movements affect their overall performance across different course conditions.

The implications of this research extend beyond just professional athletes.

Whether you're using clip-on aero bars, an entry-level TT bike, or a high-end triathlon setup, these findings will revolutionize how you approach position optimization and race strategy.

Our new EZ Aero Calculator will incorporate these real-world variables, providing amateur and elite athletes alike with the most accurate power and time predictions available for triathlon and time trial events.
