Covering the full-distance triathlon of a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike, and 42 km run, Luis battled for a podium place throughout the day.

He made a key move during the bike-to-run transition, climbing from fifth into third. 

Despite a determined effort to hold his position, Jan Stratmann passed him late in the run to secure the final podium spot.
